I'm a 28 year old developer, and I've been developing Free and Open Source software for over 10 years. I have a degree in Computer Science from Università degli Studi di Milano, where I'm still studying. My goal is to teach Computer Science in schools, and spread the Free Software philosophy. My projects span across several fields: libraries for developers, websites and web applications, embedded systems, computer graphics, and reverse engineering. The technologies I am most familiar with are Java, PHP, HTML5, JavaScript, Android, MySQL and Arduino. My main interests are software development, privacy and user rights, many genres of videogames, and electronic music.

SpeedTest

SpeedTest

Now more than ever, users need some way to test the speed of their Internet connection, and ISPs need some way to provide this service. The Free and Open Source HTML5 Speedtest project allows ISPs and website owners to host a speedtest on their sites that users can run from their browser without the need for native apps or browser plugins, all without proprietary software or license fees. The HTML5 Speedtest project can test download and upload speeds, ping and jitter, and provide ISP information and distance from the server. Results can be stored on the server if desired, and can also be made available to users as an embeddable image link. If multiple servers are available, the test can choose the best one to use to perform the test. The project is very customizable and can be adapted to different scenarios, different UI styles, etc., and an extensive documentation is available, covering everything from a basic setup using the provided examples to telemetry and custom frontends. In addition to the web-based UI, we also offer a template to generate Android (and soon iOS) apps.
